XREAL has announced the launch of its latest augmented reality (AR) glasses, the XREAL Air 2 Ultra. This new addition to the XREAL Air series is set to redefine the standards of spatial computing with its advanced features and affordability. Priced at $699, the XREAL Air 2 Ultra is available for pre-order, with shipping expected to start by the end of March 2024.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Design
The XREAL Air 2 Ultra boasts a sleek titanium ring frame, marking a significant design evolution in the AR glasses industry. Weighing just 80 grams, these glasses are not only stylish but also comfortable for extended wear. They feature a 52-degree field of view (FoV) and Full HD resolution for each eye, ensuring a high-definition viewing experience. The glasses also offer a fast refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 500 nits, making the visuals crisp and vibrant in various lighting conditions.
Compatibility and Features
XREAL Air 2 Ultra is compatible with a range of devices, including Samsung S22 and S23 smartphones, iPhones, Android devices, MacBooks, and Windows PCs. It supports spatial computing and screen mirroring with USB-C video output and HDMI output devices. The glasses also include a USB-C cable, cleaning cloth, protective case, user manual, and nose pads in different sizes.
Advanced Spatial Computing Capabilities
Equipped with dual 3D environment sensors and computer vision capabilities, the XREAL Air 2 Ultra offers six degrees of freedom (6DoF) for an immersive AR experience. These sensors are the smallest in the market and enable features like hand tracking, 3D mesh creation, and semantic scene understanding. The glasses are also TÜV Rheinland certified for color accuracy, eye comfort, low blue light, and flicker-free usage.
SDK Support and Developer Focus
XREAL is committed to supporting the developer community with its NRSDK 2.2, which is scheduled for release in the coming months. This SDK will feature substantial improvements in spatial computing capabilities, including hand tracking, spatial anchors, depth mesh, and more.
A Glimpse into the Future
XREAL’s presence at CES 2024 showcased “The Spatial Life” experience, demonstrating how 2D applications and widgets can become fully immersive in 3D. This innovation allows users to multitask through augmented overlays without losing spatial presence, controlled by intuitive inputs like eyes, hands, and voice.
