A representative model of the Speedmaster series of Giugiaro Design was first released in 1983 and 1999 is a long-awaited legendary product. As you can see from the name Speedmaster, not only does the timepiece got the alarm and stopwatch function, but the digital tachymeter function is also one of the key signatures of this watch.

In the early 80s Seiko asked Giorgetto Giugiaro to imagine a collection of new watches for young motorcyclists and car drivers. Starting from ergonomics, the starting point of every Giugiaro Design’s project, Giugiaro designed a collection of four different models with distinguishing features: an adjustable strap to convert the watch into a professional instrument that can be fitted on bicycle handlebars or steering wheel spokes, casing offset in relation to the strap to ensure it does not interfere with shirt or jacket cuffs, angled face on the digital version to ensure the watch can be read while driving without having to turn the wrist. – italdesign.it

In addition, the timepiece features rotary switch function, module switching with rotating bezel, dome type liquid crystal display. The module which switches each function by the rotating bezel is also faithfully reproduced with the same as the first model released in 1983.

As for the color, Seiko also taking their way back in providing three options namely Gold, Dark and Silver which was the standard color. The step was a pleasing point to be able to merge the 1983 Speedmaster to any age group and styling.

As the legendary watch taking their way back, Seiko is also bringing exclusivity to the series in which they will only sell 3,000 products. Each and every Speedmaster will get the finishing touch of premium attractiveness such as “LIMITED EDITION” on the back side and the imprint of the serial number.

Without breaking the originality of the design, the latest reproduction of 1983 Speedmaster is a reprint model that adopted modern functions and proved that the legend can evolve. The timepiece is available at beams.co.jp for around $300.
