Following Samsung and Huawei, Lenovo is another manufacturer that competes in the market with foldable screens devices. The difference is, Samsung and Huawei make it happen through cellphones, while Lenovo’s product comes in the shape of a laptop. This Lenovo laptop with a folding display is claimed to be the first foldable PC in the world.
At present, of course, the status is still a prototype and Lenovo also still hasn’t given a name for the revolutionary device. The company does not eve disclose much information about the laptop that is included in the ThinkPad X1 line. In a press release, Lenovo said that the laptop uses an OLED panel measuring 13.3 inches.
The laptop has a resolution of 2K or 1,920 x 1,080 pixels with a screen aspect ratio of 4: 3. It also runs a Windows operating system with an Intel processor. When it is opened, the users can use the entire screen like a tablet device.
While it is folded, it can be used as a regular laptop with the top as a screen and bottom for the keyboard. According to The Verge, this laptop is also accompanied by a case with a pen or stylus. The operating system is known to be Windows 10 and one of the ports supports USB Type-C.
Lenovo mentioned several examples of the functions of laptops with a folding display. In the form of a book, the device can be used to monitor social media while laying down on the bed. In the form of traditional laptops, ThinkPad XI with a folding screen can be used to watch while on the move or typing. Then, in full-screen form, the device can be used as a place to record or draw.
The company claims that the screen production meets all the quality tests like other ThinkPad series. Lenovo claims this laptop will have to pass a series of military tests so that the durability of the device can be tested. The foldable laptop seems to combine two types of laptops belonging to Lenovo, namely Yoga Book and ThinkPad.
The future users will experience the flexibility of a Yoga Book but with the strong endurance of the ThinkPad. Nevertheless, it is not yet known in detail about specifications of the latest laptop by Lenovo. What we know so far is that Lenovo plans to start selling this foldable laptop in 2020.
