Lamborghini introduces the Gran Turismo V12 Vision concept car during the 2019 world final of the FIA-Certified Gran Turismo Championship, Monte Carlo. Although the company releases it as a concept car, the car can be downloaded on the Gran Turismo game for Playstation 4.
This is not the first time a manufacturer has created a concept to drive in a game. Previously it had been done by Citroen, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, and others as part of the Vision Gran Turismo (GT) project.
It’s all started with the big question from GT founder, “Will you design an ideal GT for us?” In the sense that GT is a grand tourer, describing high-performance coupe. From here on, carmaker takes their chance to participate, designing ideal GT cars to be represented in the game.
The main focus of the design, single-seater model. Silhouettes imagined according to Lamborghini DNA. Centered in the middle, the cockpit and fender are made separately. The side mirror hints at the 1968 Marzal concept.
Another characteristic is shed on the Y-shaped front and rear lights. The entire composition, arranged as if to emphasize the aerodynamic side. Moreover, the body element is built from high-performance material.
Just like other virtual concepts, the design is very dramatic. The render comes directly from the designers in the studio of Lamborghini Centro Stille, Sant Agatha Bolognese. It looks like a jet fighter on land which painted green.
The Lambo V12 Vision is engulfed in Lamborghini’s identity, always vulgar and trying to be the center of attention. It is superbly futuristic but Lamborghini did manage it to combine the pitch with harmony. Thus, it looks more lively.
Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo was created as the greatest virtual car for fans and gamers, who are very enthusiastic about Lamborghini and its future aspirations.
Lamborghini also claims that this is an opportunity for designers to spread their wings, and visualize a car that can turn away all views and provide the best driving experience. The concept also encourages technology development, especially in the light material and hybridization.
The power comes from a unit that is similar with the one from Sian FKP37, a V12 6.5 L mild-hybrid unit. The greatness of the V12 is combined with the electrification technology of a supercapacitor advanced battery. Reportedly, the battery is three times stronger than its lithium-ion counterpart.
The performance support is provided by 48V electric motors from the gearbox when accelerating or shifting gears. The result, all power extraction is capable to reach 807 hp with a torque of 720 Nm. The 0 – 100 can be produced in just 2.8 seconds. While the maximum speed is 217 miles per hour.
Through its digital form, the V12 Vision Gran Turismo envision a design with maximum aerodynamics. Not only that, but the overall performance is also superbly done. The digital creation of the V12 Vision Gran Turismo itself has made its debut in early 2020.
