For the 50th anniversary of Caballero, Fantic is presenting the special Caballero 500 Rally based on the Caballero 500 Scrambler presented in 2018. Compared to the Scrambler, the rally should score particularly well off-road.
Visually, the Fantic Caballero 500 Rally succeeds at first glance. The LED headlight is protected by a grille in the special model, the front fender is mounted directly on the lower fork bridge, the tank has an army green cover and the side covers are adorned with the words Rally.
Besides, Fantic serves the off-road fans an impressive 200 mm of travel, which means that the seat height is now 860 mm and coarse Michelin Anakee Wild tires (19 in the front and 17 in the back) that are there to master the balancing act between on and off-road.
The 43 instead of a 41-millimeter thick fork is fully adjustable like the spring strut and the swingarm is made of aluminum instead of steel. Since the handlebars rise higher and further back over the tank, the seating position is more upright than on the standard Caballero.
The lively 449-cubic single develops 40 hp at 7,500 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Even at low engine speeds, there is an exceptional torque for the class, which increases linearly up to the peak at 6,500 revs.
The chassis, which is comfortably designed for road use, gives the rider a sovereign feeling, but due to the concept, the relationship to the front wheel is somewhat lost. In the standard setup, the rally also swings slightly over waves in an inclined position at the front and rear.
Here and there, there are fine parts such as the footrest system milled from the full block, the noble fork bridges, and the chic golden stanchions. Handlebar fittings and cockpit fall victim to the radical optics, the switches are small and the display is not stingy with information but is moderately readable.
Fantic Caballero 500 Rally is also happy to accept the challenge from the main road onto the field or forest path if the rider feels like it. Interested parties can convince themselves since the motorbike should be available from the price € 7,190.
