At the heart of the Exotheia watch is a state-of-the-art solar movement, boasting an impressive power reserve of up to 8 months. The watch features a photovoltaic dial that captures solar energy through sensors, storing it in a battery that can recharge with just 60 seconds of solar exposure. This innovative design ensures that the watch remains powered for extended periods, reducing the need for frequent battery replacements.
Design Inspired by the Cosmos
The design of the Exotheia watch is deeply influenced by celestial bodies and space science. “The solar energy dial resides in the center of the case, mirroring the central place of the Sun in our solar system,” explains Co-Founder Alain Oppliger. The watch’s aesthetics are inspired by the colors of stars, planets, and black holes, with a nod to the work of renowned astronomers like Kepler.
Robust and Stylish Construction
Exotheia watches come in various materials, including steel, carbon, and ceramic. The watch features a 9.9mm thick, 40-millimeter case made of steel, with an exoskeleton-style casing and a jet-black ceramic bezel. The case back is deep engraved with an exoplanet image, and the indices have tronik signatures that glow like distant stars. A screw-down case back ensures 100m water resistance, and the sapphire crystal with AR coating offers durability and clarity.
Comfort and Versatility
The watch is equipped with ventilated rubber straps for comfort, complete with quick-release spring bars and a brushed buckle clasp. This design ensures that the watch is not only stylish but also versatile and comfortable for everyday wear.
Kickstarter Success and Availability
The Exotheia Kickstarter campaign was a resounding success, reaching its initial goal within just 10 minutes. The campaign will end on January 18, 2024, with early bird backers receiving significant discounts. The watches are available in different colors and materials, each coming with an aluminum watch box and a warranty card. Exotheia offers free worldwide shipping and aims to deliver by May 2024.
