As soon as you are convinced that the racing bike is fully developed and no longer offers any space for groundbreaking innovations, a manufacturer pushes ahead and presents something that you would never have dreamed of.
This time it is Canyon with the Grail – a gravel bike that is supposed to offer significantly more vibration damping thanks to its extremely independent handlebar.
With great agility and smooth running, Canyons Gravelbike offers a very sporty, yet balanced overall package. The maximum tire width is 42 millimeters. With 22 millimeters of inner rim width, the tubeless-ready wheels from DT Swiss provide a solid foundation for the wide gravel tires.
The built-in Shimano Ultegra group with the RX rear derailleur specially developed for gravel bikes works very reliably even on bumpy root passages and underlines the extremely wide range of use of the Grail with its ratio of 50/34 front and 11-34 rear.
The Canyon Grail CF SL 8.0 combines the racing properties with a very high level of cushioning comfort. The company claims that the geometry combines sportiness and comfort, while the rigidity and low weight will have a very positive impact, especially on the mountain.
The proven Canyon S15 VCLS seat post, which consists of two carbon parts that can move against each other and thus have a strong damping effect, offers an additional, very noticeable flex.
The bikemaker posted the right decision on the seating position that is very well balanced and not stretched. The innovative overall concept of the Canyon Grail CF SL 8.0 is about speed, stiffness, lightweight, agility, integration and a high level of driving comfort.
“Lightweight and robust DT Swiss wheels ensure that the Grail CF SL 8.0 can keep pace on the road and then turn off for fun off it. When it comes to combining comfort and control, the combination of our Gravel Pro Geometry and Gravel Cockpit is a truly class act.”
