Bentley is one of the few carmakers that consistently maintains craftsmanship in each of their releases. Since first appeared in 1919, Bentley has consistently created ultra-luxury cars that play an important role in the world automotive industry.
Coinciding with the age of the 1st Century of this brand, Bentley stepped forward in dreaming of the future of their vehicles that use autonomous technology, machines without emissions plus a smart AI, but still, uphold car manufacturing by hand made through exclusive and premium materials. The result is a Grand Touring concept car called the Bentley EXP 100 GT.
Exterior
Bentley created the exterior of the Bentley EXP 100 GT with lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber materials. But beyond the use of these materials, Bentley tried to play with one element that is believed to be a premium value in the future which is light.
The alteration can be seen from the front fascia that seems rich in light, due to the replacement of the matrix grille which has now changed its function to become an illumination source that moves in sync with the Flying B logo on the hood and the front bonnet area.
The headlight is made together with the grille format, which is created rounded shape inspired by the classic Bentley Bowler. And because this car is intended as a vehicle without emissions, the use of a large grille as an air channel to the engine room is not gonna be applicable.
The side of the Bentley EXP 100 GT presents a more futuristic impression due to the use of the gullwing door model which is opened automatically, while making this car without pillars B. Having a body posture of 5.8 meters long and 2.4 meters wide, Bentley makes this concept car with an environmentally friendly approach.
The rear exterior design of the BMW EXP 100 GT presents a design approach that carries the classic Bentley elements but also providing futuristic spices to this car. This can be seen from the application of the use of the rear stern that follows the curves of the rear fenders which adopt the distinctive curves of the classic Bentley R-Type Continental.
Some areas in the rear area of this concept car were created for aerodynamic reasons, such as the rear bumper which has two holes like an exhaust pipe. Slightly ascending to the upper side, the curve of the tailgate is made to have a deep basin, or what Bentley calls the Horseshoe curve. This indentation is given in order to strengthen the detailed design of the 3D OLED screen that functions as the taillight of this car.
Interior
The Bentley EXP 100 GT cabin concept is a vision of Bentley’s future that presents premium cars, an environmentally friendly approach, and has intelligent capabilities through an autonomous system and Artificial Intelligent.
Entering the cabin, you will be welcomed by the Adaptive Biometric Seat which is designed to adjust the driver’s mode, made facing the rear of the car, and can be made backward until it takes up rear-seat space to get a more perfect cabin area.
The material used in the seat is a blend of textiles made like organic leather made like the process of making wine and 5,000-year-old copper-infused Riverwood panels. As for the dashboard area, there is a Cumbrian crystal interface, car carpet using British Farmed Wool, and various buttons on the car that combine copper and aluminum elements.
Bentley looked at the future of their grand touring car through intelligent technology innovation Bentley Personal Assistant AI. This Artificial Intelligence based technology will define the driver’s journey and character based on five characteristics: Enhance, Cocoon, Capture, Re-Live and Customize.
This technology will run according to hand gesture commands on the Crystal Cumbria interface. Seat with a biometric model used on the Bentley EXP 100 GT allows the system in this car to read the condition and gestures of the driver and passengers, including in health.
Engine and AI
The Bentley EXP 100 GT uses the Next Generation Traction Drive which has four motors with a torque of 1,500 Nm, where this electric engine able to accel from 0-100 km / h in 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 300 km/hour.
The battery system on the Bentley EXP 100 GTĀ is claimed to have the ability to charge 80% of the empty battery position within 15 minutes. And according to the company, this battery capacity can push this car to run as far as 700 km.
Bentley adopted the Autonomous system with the help of the Bentley Personal Assistant AI. As to maintain efficiency, Bentley uses special Pirelli tires that can adjust to weather conditions and steering control and the Active Aero Wheels system that will adjust the driver’s needs in feeling the sensation of driving.
