RGB lighting systems began to hit the trend several years ago, and now can be easily found in almost all PC accessories and components that are specialized for gaming. RGB is no longer a new thing, but hardware manufacturers are slowly finding more essential uses, this time they are focusing on eSport athletes.
Besides the support of high-performance hardware, compactness is also an important factor for a team of professional gamers.
These two aspects are what Asus is trying to compress into its brand new gaming gear. Prepared as a more sophisticated version of the ROG Strix Fusion 300, the Taiwanese manufacturer introduced the ROG Strix 7.1 gaming headphone that is equipped with RGB synchronized system.
The overall design is almost identical to its predecessor. It looks futuristic thanks to the asymmetrical speaker housing and the use of an alien obelisk pattern in the hinge and headband area. Based on the image, the outer area of the housing carries a glossy texture, and stores the touch sensor so you can control the volume and access the previous/next function by touching your finger there.
The comforts factor is still Asus’ main concern. These headphones utilize a combination of high-class leather and hollow fabric to ensure air circulation and maximum heat dissipation without sacrificing sound quality. The oval ear cup is believed to be able to make audio more isolated, and still comfortable even when worn for a long time.
The most unique part of Strix 7.1 is its synchronization feature. Not only can it be equated with other ROG hardware and gaming gear, but the user can also harmonize the pattern and color of headphone light into the unit worn by their teammate. All of the customizations can be done via the Aura app.
The Asus Essence 50mm driver utilizes a metal cover to minimize vibration and distortion, in order to provide detailed tones and kicking bass. But before touching the driver, the sound was produced and strengthened by the DAC ESS Saber 9018. The 7.1 surround sound system also does not require software, it is activated as soon as the button is pressed.
The mic section also gets an upgrade, Asus is utilizing a sophisticated system that processes and clears input on-the-fly to optimize communication. Asus plans to start marketing the latest product on the ROG Strix lineup in the near future.
