Zero Motorcycles has finally delivered the FXE which according to the company is classified as entry-level. For more than a decade, Zero Motorcycles has consistently improved its electric motorcycle fleet. The FXE variant becomes the new barometer of the company’s strategy.
Design
From a design point of view, the Zero FXE brags a supermoto style with a sleek body and an immediate modern feel. Although it is built on the FX platform, it has its own characteristics in terms of appearance.
The Zero FXE is built on the same frame as the FX and FXS or known as the Cypher 2 platform. The electric motorbike weighs almost 135 kg.
Powertrain
The FXE is powered by a Z-Force 75-5 brushless motor, passive air-cooled, high efficiency, radial flux, and interior permanent magnet (IPM) -a small dynamo that is claimed to produce 46 hp and 105 Nm of torque.
The top speed is clocked at 136 kph (85 mph). Meanwhile, the battery pack is a 7.2 kWh lithium-ion unit, offering a range of up to 160 km (100 miles) for city use.
Since this unit only comes with a 110V charger, owners have the option of purchasing a fast-charging accessory to make it charge faster. Charging from 0 to 100 percent is accomplished in 9.7 hours. But the extra component of a fast charger will get it done in 4.1 hours.
Features
Despite sharing platforms, the Zero FXE inherits many technologies from SR/F and SR/S. One of them is a 5-inch TFT screen. It can provide a much clearer and detailed user interface.
The bike also runs Zero’s Cypher II operating system which includes Bluetooth connectivity. The rider can adjust ride parameters such as power, torque, and top speed via the Zero Motorcycles smartphone app.
The suspension is trusted to 41 mm Showa forks and piggyback rear shocks from the same company. The brakes are from the Brembo subsidiary.
Price and Availability
As for the price, the Zero FXE is marketed starting from $ 11,795 and will be available in the authorized dealers as soon as December 2021.
