As the pandemic began a new phase of vaccination, carmakers are busy strategizing the best way to get the best of the condition. One of them is KIA that has slated the marketing period of the 2022 KIA Carnival.
Design
Referring to the official statement released by Kia Global, the latest Carnival has been designed to target young families through its leading combination of innovation, space, flexibility, and style.
Earning the nickname “Grand Utility Vehicle”, the luxury MPV has more cabin space than the previous model, as well as all competitors in the minivan segment. The car comes with a new design that is inspired by an SUV, combined with a new, more modern interior.
Dimension-wise, the Kia Carnival is 5,155 mm long by 1,995 mm wide and 1,740 mm high. The aforementioned figure results in a wheelbase of up to 3090 mm and 30 mm longer than the previous generation. The design also creates roomy space in the cabin.
Engine
Kia Carnival is an MPV that shares a platform with Hyundai and has a seven-seater configuration. The 2022 Kia Carnival will provide two engine options, including a 3.5-liter V6 GDI V6 petrol engine capable of producing 289 hp and a maximum torque of 355 Nm.
Also available is a 4-cylinder 2.2-liter Turbodiesel engine which can produce 198 hp power and 440 Nm of torque. All these engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Features
Carnival provides four variants, S, Si, SLi, and Platinum with differences in several features and appearance on the exterior. The fourth-generation still adheres to the typical tiger-nose grille design, aka the Tiger Nose. Although not too obvious like other models.
The front grill is blended nicely into the main lighting as if the two are integrated. Sharp details are inserted through the daytime running light (DRL) that extends from the edge of the grille to the bottom of the lamp. The light squares are sharp, creating the whole modern look of Carnival.
However, the Kia Carnival still provides some standard features that will be embedded in all variants. Among them are the safety features of the Junction Autonomous Emergency Braking, Cruise Control, Adaptive LED on the headlight, and connection of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphones.
In the interior, the 2022 Kia Carnival is equipped with a panoramic digital console with an 8-inch touch screen in its lowest variant.
