The Italian motorcycle manufacturer Aprilia has just released its newest RS 660 supersport motorbike. The motorbike was first introduced in a form of a concept motorbike at the 2018 EICMA event, Milan, Italy.
At EICMA 2019, the original form of the Aprilia RS 660 was finally exhibited. The interesting part of the new motorbike from Aprilia is that there is a twin 660 cc parallel engine called “half V4”.
The nomenclature comes from the fact that the engine embedded on the RS 660, is half of the 1100 cc V4 engine on by the Aprilia RSV4 superbike. This 660 cc engine uses 270-degree ignition timing and is capable of producing 100 hp.
Aprilia RS 660 is equipped with thin LED lights and also DRL. Fairing with multilayer design and fins in the inside area. This design is claimed to be capable to increase downforce at high speeds.
The Aprilia RS 660 uses a new twin-spar aluminum frame and asymmetrical swing arm model where the right side is curved while the left one is straight.
The front suspension of the sportbikes uses a 41 mm from Kayaba that can be fully adjusted, while braking using the Brembo calipers clamps dual discs.
While the rear suspension uses a monoshock model that can also be regulated by the level of hardness. The system is then coupled with rear brake discs on a single-piston.
This motorbike also offers the latest features, such as an indicator panel with a 5 inch TFT screen and can be connected with a smartphone. It also features traction control, ABS brakes, quick-shifter, wheelie control, and engine braking system.
There are five riding modes on the Aprilia RS 660, two riding modes are prepared for circuit use, while the other three are for highway use.
Aprilia RS 660 is offered in two color choices, black-red and blue-red alloy. The sportbikes should have officially launched on May 9, 2020, at the Aprilia All-Stars event at the Mugello Circuit, Italy but the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
