General Motors (GM) recently announced another crucial information about the upcoming Hummer EV. The Hummer reincarnation which will be present as an electric car or Electric Vehicle (EV) has recently been confirmed to be packing a removable roof concept.
GM announced that the electric Hummer or Hummer EV will come with a unique open-air experience. The company didn’t explain the detail on but on the latest teaser, they did provide an overview of the Hummer EV roof concept.
It is most possible for the Hummer EV to have three removable panels. The concept was already adopted in the Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler which features two panels in front and a large panel in the back. Jeep calls this the Freedom Top roof.
GM Hummer EV seems to have developed a simpler design with two panels above the driver and passenger head and two other panels above the rear seat. Because it is already known that to remove the roofs is not as easy as imagined.
Wranglers and Gladiators, for example, the mechanism need at least two grown adults to remove the top of the Freedom Top while the front panel is complicated to handle if you can’t reach the middle and the ends part with both hands.
The Hummer EV was originally planned to be revealed on May 20 but was eventually postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. What is known of the car is also scarce but one thing for sure is that the GMC Hummer EV promises 60 miles per hour (97 km / h) in just three seconds.
The electric car is also promised to be a very savage one in strength. GM claims that the Hummer EV will have the power of up to 1,000 horsepower (986 PS) implying that GMC has more than one powertrain option behind its bonnet and the same can be said about torque of up to 15,592 Nm.
