At last, the Czech car manufacturer, Škoda, has a line up that is powered by electricity. But actually, its first electric car is not a new lineup. Called Citigo-e iV, the zero-emission city sporter stands on the same platform as the regular version of Citigo.
Citigoe is offered in the form of a five-door hatchback. The shape of the main light has not changed at all but the Škoda designer added the Daytime Running Lights lED lights on the bottom of the front side.
And because this is an electric car, the radiator grille is removed and replaced with vertical stripes to maintain the current characteristic of Škoda cars. While on the back, the carmaker didn’t make significant changes.
What distinguishes it from ordinary Citigo is the difference in the emblem that is now Citigo-e and iV. Škoda’s distinctive logo in the form of an arrow was removed and replaced with the inscription ‘SKODA’.
The electric motor that is embedded in the car has 82 hp with 210 Nm of torque and a 36.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The ŠKODA CITIGOe iV can reach the speeds of 100 km / h in 12.5 seconds while its maximum speed is 130 km / h. And when the battery is fully charged, the CITIGOe is able to roam as far as 265 km.
Moving on to batteries, Škoda claims that if the customer uses a CCS (Combined Charging System), the recharge process can reach 80% in just 1 hour. While on the 7.2 kW AC plug, the recharging time is getting longer as it takes 4 hours 8 minutes to reach 80%.
The Škoda CitigoE iV measures in length 3597 mm, width 1645 mm and height 1481 mm. The luggage compartment has 250 liters, up to 923 liters when the rear seats are folded down. The interior of the Škoda CitigoE iV is a lil bit too spartan, but in a way sufficient.
The car has a standard two-year warranty, the high-voltage battery has a warranty of 8 years / 160,000 km, whichever comes first. For a price of around €21,000, the Škoda CitigoE iV offers one of the best value for money in the electric cars market.
In addition to launching the environmentally friendly vehicle, Škoda is also committed to installing 7,000 electric charging points in locations close to its factories in the Czech Republic and several cities in Europe with an investment of 35 million euros.
