After releasing Daytona Moto2 to the market, Triumph Motorcycle recently took the center stage once again by releasing the Triumph Street Triple RS 2020 onto the market. Similar to the special edition Daytona, the Triumph Street Triple RS 2020 is also thick with Moto2 nuance.
Understandably, Triumph is now the engine provider for the Moto2 class, replacing Honda. Lots of changes come in terms of design, and of course, the company claims that the performance is just like riding a Moto2 racing bike but this time, it comes in the shape of a naked bike.
The change that stands out the most is its appearance. The latest Street Triple RS has changed the design of the dual headlamps which are now equipped with two LED light strips that look like furrowed brows.
The chassis or frame remains the same – perhaps the only change is that these parts are coated with Titanium Silver paint that matches the new color scheme. With a dry weight of 166kg, Triumph states that the Street Triple RS 2020 is the lightest in its class.
The inline 765cc three-cylinder engine used is still the same as the previous model, but the pull can provide additional power and fewer emissions. The engine can get an additional performance of 9% which is equivalent to 121 horsepower and 58 lb-ft of torque.
At the front, the bike is equipped with a 41mm Showa upside-down fork and Brembo M50 4 piston brake calipers with 310mm dual front brake disks. While the suspension and rear brakes use STX40 Öhlins shock absorber which is equipped with the two-sided swingarm and single-piston Brembo calipers with 220mm brake disks.
The transmission ratio is also worked out to make it suitable for highway needs. Camshaft and the muffler are also quieter, and more targeted torque in the middle and upper engine rotation. Then, the slipper clutch comes as it is now have become the standard of the naked bikes today.
Performance of the Triumph Street Triple RS 2020 has improved thanks to a combination of other components such as the more responsive engine, new exhaust valves to optimize performance at mid-level as well as high precision couplings and stabilizers.
The addition of a second catalytic converter in the exhaust let the Triumph Street Triple RS automatically pass the Euro 5 Emission Standard which will be inaugurated next year.
Some of the new features on this motorbike are the TFT instrument panel complete with Bluetooth and can be connected with the MyTriumph application. Through the application, riders can scour the GPS, receive calls, set music and add a GoPro.
The new display also makes it easier for riders to choose one of the five available riding modes: Road, Rain, Sport, Track, and configurable Rider. Triumph has not yet announced the price of the Street Triple RS 2020, bearing in mind that this motorbike will only be officially sold next year.
