Almost all of the mechanical keyboards out there are still using the Cherry MX switch. But lately, bigger manufacturers have ventured to design their own switches. Now, Kingston’s is turning up the style through their gaming division, HyperX.
The company announced HyperX Alloy Origins, the first mechanical keyboard to package their own designs and switches. The switch has a character similar to Cherry MX Red which is very popular: linear and non-tactile, with lighter actuation than Cherry MX Black.
What makes these HyperX-made switches different is the travel distance and the lower actuation point, the details are around 3.8 mm and 1.8 mm.
In theory, this means that the HyperX Alloy Origins users is going to be more agile in empowering their fingers during a gaming session. Furthermore, HyperX also claims that the switches’ durability is capable of enduring 80 million clicks.
The layout itself adopts a full-size type, which means there is still a row of buttons on the right side. The RGB lighting is definitely there for recognition in the gaming realm, and in overall, the Alloy Origins looks solid thanks to its aluminum chassis.

The plan is that the HyperX Alloy Origins will be marketed in the third quarter of this year for $109.99. HyperX also intends to add a variety of switches in the near future, so that their consumers can get more options to suit their individual tastes and needs.
