Chevrolet has just introduced the new 2022 Silverado, with several significant improvements, with more options and more technology. The carmaker also took the time to introduce the new Silverado ZR2 trim level, an off-roader that will be Chevrolet’s flagship truck in this segment.
Design
In terms of styling features, the new Silverado ZR2 includes a new black bonnet insert, a unique grille with integrated lighting, and a “flow-tie” emblem, ZR2 badges. The offroad truck also coming with an exclusive interior upholstered in Jet Black/Graystone leather, with complementary dark trim.
The first Silverado ZR2 includes a premium interior, immersion technology, and several advanced safety features as standard.
Specs
This level of equipment, compared to the other levels, presents improvements in the suspension, in its off-road technology and exterior improvements that according to the brand, offer optimal off-road capacity and performance, either to climb the rocks or run on the desert sand.
The maximum payload of the ZR2 is 1,440 pounds and the weight rating of the conventional trailer is 8,900 pounds. Its engine is a 6.2 L V-8, which is standard and works with a 10-speed automatic transmission, offering 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
For the first time, a Silverado will include the 40mm DSSV Multimatic reel valve dampers, which feature 3 separate valves to control damping and 3 connected chambers for fluid flow.
As for the suspension springs, Chevrolet includes an adjustment that together with the Multimatic shock absorbers, increases the maximum travel of the front and rear suspension when compared to the Trail Boss trim level.
The ZR2 also features a unique and exclusive sliding plate package. Its front bumper is made of steel, which was designed to allow an improved approach angle of 31.8 degrees. It is also designed with removable end caps to facilitate replacement in case of close encounters with rocks or other objects when used outside the pavement and incidentally.
The double exhaust is located behind the rear bumper to avoid damage. And sure, we can’t forget their tires that are 33-inch off-road MT.
Price and Availability
The new and renewed 2022 Chevrolet Silverado will be available at dealerships after March 2022.
